Project Zomboid is a hardcore open-world survival game set in the Knox Event Exclusion Zone, where a zombie outbreak has turned Kentucky into a dangerous place to live. You start with very little and have to search houses, stores, and other buildings for food, tools, weapons, and anything else that might keep you alive. Zombies react to what they see and hear, so making too much noise or getting careless around a large group can quickly turn a routine supply run into a fight for your life.
Survival goes far beyond fighting zombies. You can barricade buildings, build defenses, cook, farm, fish, trap animals, repair vehicles, and develop skills based on what you actually spend time doing. Hunger, thirst, fatigue, boredom, depression, and illness all need to be managed, while changing weather, power failures, migrating hordes, and the arrival of winter gradually make the world harder to survive in. You can play alone, join persistent multiplayer servers, use local split-screen co-op, or heavily customize the sandbox and add community mods. Project Zomboid is built around the idea that there is no guaranteed victory, only the question of how long you can keep your survivor alive.
