Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes you to Japan during the late Sengoku period, a time when the country is caught in years of conflict and political upheaval. The story follows two very different protagonists, Naoe, a skilled shinobi from Iga, and Yasuke, a powerful samurai. Their paths eventually cross as they become involved in a larger struggle that threatens the future of Japan. Each character has their own motivations, abilities, and approach to dealing with the dangers around them.
Naoe relies on stealth, movement, and the shadows to get past enemies and strike from unexpected positions, while Yasuke is better suited to direct confrontations with his armor, weapons, and samurai training. You can switch between the two characters as you explore a large open world featuring castles, villages, forests, mountains, and changing seasons. The environment also plays an important role in stealth, with darkness, weather, and shadows providing opportunities to remain hidden. Assassin’s Creed Shadows combines stealth and combat with exploration, character progression, and a story set during one of the most turbulent periods in Japanese history.
