God of War Ragnarök continues the story of Kratos and Atreus as they prepare for the conflict foretold to bring about the end of the Norse gods. Fimbulwinter has arrived, covering the realms in an endless winter and making an already dangerous journey even more difficult. While Atreus searches for answers about his identity and the role he may play in what is coming, Kratos tries to protect his son while dealing with the consequences of his own past. Their journey takes them across the Nine Realms, where they encounter familiar faces, new allies, and powerful enemies.
Combat expands on the previous game with new abilities, weapons, and ways to approach fights. Kratos once again uses the Leviathan Axe and Blades of Chaos, while his shield can be used in different ways depending on the situation. Atreus also plays a larger role in combat, and other companions can join Kratos during different parts of the adventure. The Nine Realms are filled with story missions, optional areas, puzzles, collectibles, and challenging enemies, giving you plenty to explore outside the main path. God of War Ragnarök brings the Norse saga to a much larger scale while keeping the relationship between Kratos and Atreus at the heart of the story.
