Hollow Knight is a hand-drawn action adventure set beneath the ruins of a once-great kingdom. You play as a mysterious little knight exploring the underground world of Hallownest, a place filled with abandoned settlements, forgotten temples, strange creatures, and dangerous paths. There is no set route through the kingdom, so you can decide where to explore and which mysteries to follow as you uncover what happened to the civilization that once lived there.
Combat is built around the Knight’s nail, spells, movement abilities, and a collection of Charms that can change how you play. You’ll face everything from common enemies to more than 40 challenging bosses, each with their own attacks and patterns to learn. Exploring also unlocks new abilities that let you reach areas that were previously out of reach, opening up more of Hallownest as you progress. With its detailed hand-drawn world, atmospheric music, challenging fights, and hidden stories, Hollow Knight rewards curiosity and patience as you slowly uncover the secrets buried beneath the kingdom.
