Nioh 3 returns to the series’ dark samurai setting with a new story built around a harsher, more open world than before. You travel through dangerous fields, ruined villages, and the ominous Crucible while facing yokai and other deadly threats across Japan’s turbulent past. The story follows Tokugawa Takechiyo, whose path toward becoming shogun is thrown into chaos by a violent family conflict that pulls the world into darkness.

Combat is built around two distinct styles that you can switch between on the fly. Samurai Style keeps the close-range, direct approach the series is known for, while Ninja Style focuses on speed, evasive movement, and special techniques for a more agile way of fighting. That flexibility adds a fresh layer to the usual Nioh challenge, letting you shape your approach based on the enemy and the situation. Nioh 3 keeps the series’ demanding action intact while opening up the structure and giving players more freedom to explore, fight, and adapt.
