Victoria 3 is a grand strategy game set during the transformative period from 1836 to 1936, when industrialization, political movements, and shifting empires were reshaping the world. You can take control of dozens of nations and decide what kind of society you want to build, whether that means turning an agricultural country into an industrial powerhouse, preserving traditional institutions, or pushing through radical political reforms. Your population has its own needs, occupations, and political interests, so decisions made at the national level can have a direct effect on everyday life.
Managing the country involves much more than simply building an army. You can develop industries, establish trade routes, secure important resources, research new technologies, change laws, and balance the demands of competing interest groups. Diplomacy also plays a major role, allowing you to form alliances, make agreements, threaten rivals, or use economic and military strength to influence other nations. Victoria 3 lets you shape an alternate version of the 19th century through economics, politics, diplomacy, and social reform, with each campaign developing differently depending on the choices you make.
