Celestial Empire is a city-building and strategy game set in a fantastical version of Ancient China. You take on the role of a governor tasked with turning a small settlement into a prosperous city worthy of the Emperor. You’ll plan streets, build homes and production facilities, manage resources, and keep your growing population supplied with everything they need. As your settlement expands, your simple peasants can eventually become craftsmen, scholars, and members of the upper class.
Planning your city is important because everything is connected through production chains and infrastructure. You’ll need to choose good locations for resource gathering and food production while preparing for harsh winters, changing seasons, and natural disasters. Trade routes also give you another way to obtain resources, allowing you to send caravans to friendly settlements and exchange goods.
The supernatural side of the world adds another layer to managing your empire. You can build relationships with different gods and receive blessings or miracles that help your city grow, but demons can also appear and spread fear among your people. Celestial Empire combines city building, resource management, trade, research, and mythology into a strategy game where the way you develop your settlement can make the difference between a thriving empire and a struggling one.
