Soul Chained is an action RPG where you play as fallen rival warlords condemned to Purgatory with their souls permanently chained together. Fight your way through the massive Tower of Purgatory using melee weapons, Chain Magic, and the Soul Chain itself, which can be used to pull enemies, trip bosses, launch objects, or coordinate attacks with your companions. Combat is built around deliberate movement and stamina management, while different weapons and stat progression let you strengthen your character as you climb higher.

The game can be played alone or in co-op, with online Havoc Mode supporting up to four players. In multiplayer, every player is physically connected by the chain, so movement and positioning can either create useful opportunities or drag the entire group into danger. Solo players instead remain connected to a large glowing ball that must be carried and manipulated throughout the journey. Each chapter introduces new enemies and ends with a boss encounter based around manifestations of sin, trauma, or regret.
